Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer | Healthcare Technology Lead
About Me & This Site
I am a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer and Technical Lead with 20+ years of experience engineering high-throughput web architectures, patient engagement systems, and enterprise healthcare fintech platforms. I have proven expertise in designing hands-on legacy system integrations, modernizing engineering workflows, and building cloud-native payment and patient-facing solutions.
This site is my online portfolio and resume, serving to showcase the kinds of projects that I am interested in and capable of building.
Foundations & Language Exploration
My engagement with software development spans a lifelong curiosity for how computer systems operate at every layer. Beyond my core professional stack, I have spent decades exploring diverse programming paradigms (procedural, object-oriented, and functional) across an array of languages including but not limited to: BASIC, Pascal, Visual Basic, Perl, Python, PHP, Java, Clojure, ANSI Common LISP, CFML, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Language & Paradigm R&D: Tinkering with unusual syntaxes and paradigms, including designing a custom domain-specific language.
- Concurrency & Low-Level Intuition: Multi-thread native with a strong grasp of memory models, synchronization primitives, and troubleshooting complex race conditions or deadlocks.
Systems Administration & Infrastructure Operations
My technical perspective is heavily shaped by a deep background in systems administration, hardware assembly, and network operations, roots that extend well before my formal enterprise software roles.
- Infrastructure Roots: Maintaining local Linux environments continuously since 2004, building custom workstations, and managing end-to-end networking.
- Operational Background: Early-career experience ranging from Dell help desk team leadership and open-source IRC technical support to managing IT infrastructure for small businesses and building custom websites and utility software as a freelancer.
Beyond the Office
Outside of professional software engineering, I maintain a structured approach to problem-solving, project management, and physical discipline.
- Tabletop Game Mastering: Running complex, long-term tabletop campaigns (such as D&D) requires rigorous scheduling, system design, homebrew rule balancing, and project management.
- Prototyping & Puzzles: Enjoying complex logic puzzles and occasionally developing small, one-off video game prototypes to share with peers.
- Discipline & Routine: Maintaining a dedicated strength training and fitness routine alongside precision nutrition tracking.
